Nursery Guidelines for Parents
We desire for your child’s time in the nursery to be one that is safe, nurturing, and developmentally stimulating. We want the experience to be good for both the children and the moms caring for our children. Please thoughtfully consider these guidelines when bringing your child to nursery.
1. Fill out the Nursery Child Information Form. This will allow you to give instructions to the nursery workers. This form will be kept for the school year, but you can file a new form as needed.
2. Please bring a labeled bag with all necessary supplies. This includes, but is not limited to the following:
Remember to label everything!
3. Please do not drop off your child if they have a contagious illness, as indicated by a fever, green runny nose, diarrhea, or vomiting.
Instructions for Nursery Workers
1. Familiarize yourself with the Nursery Child Information Forms. Read the Nursery Log for the day.
2. Within the first 10 minutes of your Nursery shift, check all diapers and take all potty-trained toddlers to the bathroom.
3. Use the Nursery Log to pass on information to workers coming after you. Write across from a child’s name if the child had a diaper change, took a nap, had a snack, etc.
4. During clean-up time at the end of coop, put the dirty toys in the bin marked “dirty toys” so they can be washed by Five Oaks staff.
5. To minimize disruption and babies crying after being visited by siblings and friends, only students for whom parents have filled out the Nursery Helper Permission Slip for a given class period are allowed in the Nursery.
